Allendale County is located in the Lowcountry region of South Carolina, in close proximity to the mountains, the seashore, rivers, lakes and golf courses. In Allendale County, the average temperature of 63.2 degrees is conducive to year-round hunting, fishing, boating and golf. Although a young county, founded in 1919, we are proud of a rich culture, filled with history and Southern Tradition. Population – 2000 census: 11,211 Home for University of South Carolina-Salkehatchie Campus. The reconstruction and renovation of the Allendale County Courthouse began August, 2002. This is now complete and all administrative offices have relocated to the new building located at 292 Barnwell Highway. |
