The Barnwell County Clerk of Court has many administrative duties relating to the following courts: The Court of General Sessions, commonly known as Criminal Court. The Court of Common Pleas, commonly known as Civil Court. The Family Court, with its three divisions, Domestic Relations, Juvenile, and Child Support.

Mr. Fickling also serves as Register of Mesne Conveyances (RMC), also known as Register of Deeds.
