Edgefield County is located approximately 60 miles from Columbia in the southwestern part of South Carolina founded in 1785, Edgefield County has a population of 24, 595 and is known for its peach industry and its politics having the distinction of being the home of 10 former South Carolina governors. Edgefield County originally included a portion of Aiken and Greenwood counties as well as all of Saluda and McCormick counties. The old Edgefield District stretched from the Saluda River on the north to the Savannah River on the south. |
