Judge W. Greg Seigler

W. Greg Seigler was born and raised in rural McCormick County. Judge Seigler and his wonderful wife, Jennifer P. Seigler, are blessed with three sons. Greg attended both public and private schools while growing up in McCormick, and he ultimately graduated from Long Cane Academy in 1992. Upon graduation from high school, he matriculated at The Citadel-The Military College of South Carolina, where he graduated cum laude in 1996. He subsequently graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1999 and received his Juris Doctorate Degree.

After graduating from law school, Judge Seigler returned to McCormick where he opened the Law Offices of W. Greg Seigler, Inc., and practiced as a solo practitioner in the areas of family law, criminal law, civil litigation, probate law, and real estate. In 2001, he was elected as McCormick County Bar President, a position he held until 2014. While in private practice, Judge Seigler served for 3 years as Chief Municipal Judge in the town of Calhoun Falls located in western Abbeville County. He also represented the South Carolina Guardian ad Litem Program, McCormick County Children's Home, and numerous municipalities in Greenwood and McCormick Counties. He was appointed Tri-County Public Defender in July, 2007, a position that was designated part-time until the implementation of the Circuit Public Defender System in 2008. Judge Seigler then accepted a full-time position as the Tri-County Public Defender, where he represented indigent clients charged with crimes in General Sessions Court, Family Court, and Magistrate's Court in the counties of McCormick, Saluda and Edgefield. He was elected to the Family Court Bench for the 11th Judicial Circuit on May 28th, 2014. His term commenced on July 7th, 2014, upon the retirement of the Honorable Kellum W. Allen.

Judge Seigler formerly served on the board of Long Cane Academy, and was a member of the McCormick County Chamber of Commerce, McCormick Rotary Club, and many other local charitable organizations. He is a mason and member of the Mine Lodge #117 in McCormick, a shriner, and a member of Bethany Baptist Church. As a devoted alumnus of the Citadel, he is a life time member of the Association of Citadel Alumni. Judge Seigler is an avid outdoorsman, a sports enthusiast, and a serious collector of local native american artifacts, but most of all he is a devoted husband and father.
