Judicial Automation Project Overview

Photo of Chief Justice Jean ToalUnder the leadership of Chief Justice Toal, the South Carolina Judicial Department (SCJD) is in the midst of an ambitious multi-year plan to modernize the operations of the South Carolina Courts. The Judicial Automation Program is integrating technology into all eight levels of court in South Carolina, from the Supreme Court to the Summary Courts. These efforts are utilizing a phased, building block approach.

The program was initiated with the development of an SCJD Strategic Technology Plan by BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting) during the year 2000. This plan identified five fundamental technology initiatives that have formed the basis for SCJD modernization efforts:

      Network Infrastructure Project
      Web Portal Project
      Statewide Court Case Management System
      Call Center Project
      Appellate Imaging System Project

Information pertaining to procurements is provided for vendors under the Vendor Information heading.
