This family court matter, involving requests for a retroactive increase in child support and reimbursement of various expenses, holds that laches is no longer a defense when there is court order for child support.

This case involves the issues of whether the trial court erred by denying petitioner's request for a jury instruction on involuntary manslaughter and by finding petitioner was not entitled to a jury instruction on self-defense.

ORDER - Rules Advisory Committee         (printer friendly version)
With the adoption of Rule 609, SCACR, the Supreme Court has created a Rules Advisory Committee. This Committee will be responsible for making recommendations regarding the adoption or amendment of rules governing the administration of or the practice and procedure before the trial courts of this State.

26522 - State v. NV Sumatra Tobacco Trading         (printer friendly version)
This case involves whether the lower court erred by finding South Carolina has personal jurisdiction over an Indonesian tobacco manufacturer for purposes of the Tobacco Escrow Fund Act and whether the lower court properly granted the State's motion for summary judgment on the merits of the action.
