Judge Lois Hyatt Roddey was born in Chester, South Carolina.  Judge Roddey is the daughter of John Thomas and Mary Helen Ashley Hyatt. Married to Raymond Carlisle Roddey.  Two children, John Carlisle Roddey and Raymond Lee Roddey.  Member of Chester Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.  Chairman of Chester Young Democrat Party, Secretary Chester Democratic Party, Chairman March of Dimes, Chairman Memorial Fund American Cancer Society.

Judge Roddey began her legal career as Chester County’s first female Deputy Sheriff and Legal Secretary for the Chester County Sheriff’s Department.  Judge Roddey was sworn in as Deputy Probate Judge in 1974 for Judge Edward King Hardin III.  In 1991, she was elected Probate Judge for Chester County.  She is a member of the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges.
