Biography
Judge
Waldo A. Maring was born in Andrews, South Carolina on September 1, 1951, the
fifth of six children of the late Robert L. and Maude Marshall Maring. He is
married to the former Teresa Collins Gaskins of Georgetown, South Carolina, and
has three daughters and a son: Tara, Shanna, Lacie and Jamie. Judge Maring
currently resides in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.
Judge
Maring attended public schools in Williamsburg County and graduated from Williamsburg High School. He graduated from Columbia Commercial College with a Degree in
Business Administration.
In
1980, he was elected as Probate Judge for Georgetown County. Judge Maring is
currently serving his eighth term.
Judge Maring served on the
Andrews Town Council from 1976 to 1981 and also served as Mayor Pro Tempore
from 1978 to 1981. From 1983 to 1990 and 2004-2009, he served on the South
Carolina Court Administration’s Probate Judges Advisory Committee. He served as
President of the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges from 1987 to
1988. In 1993, 1995, 2005, 2007 and 2009, he served on the faculty for New
Probate Judges Training. He was appointed to the South Carolina Judicial
Council in 1992 and served until 2000.
Judge
Maring is a member of the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges and the
National College of Probate Judges.
