Biography
Judge Ronnie Kidd was
born in Abbeville County, South Carolina on April 18, 1946 to Albert M. Kidd,
Sr. and Mittie Waters Kidd. He attended Calhoun Falls Elementary School and
graduated from Calhoun Falls High School and is a 1967 graduate of the S. C.
Highway Patrol School.
Judge Kidd began working
for the S. C. Highway Patrol in August 1967 where he was a member of the
Specialized Accident Investigation Team and a member of the District #2 SWAT
Team. Following his election as McCormick County Probate Judge in 1983, Judge
Kidd has served this office continually since that time.
Among Judge Kidd's areas
of community involvement and leadership are the following: Past President of
McCormick Country Club, Past President of the McCormick Exchange Club, Past
President of the McCormick Lions Club, Past President of the McCormick County
Historical Society, Past Chairman and Treasurer of McCormick's Gold Rush
Festival, Past Member of the Board of Visitors for Piedmont Technical College,
Graduate of Palmetto Leadership at Clemson University, Past President of South
Carolina Probate Judges' Association, currently serving second term on South
Carolina Association of Counties Board of Directors, has been a Meals On Wheels
volunteer at McCormick County Council on Aging for ten years.
As a member of McCormick
United Methodist Church, Judge Kidd is a Past Chairman of the Administrative
Council, Past President of McCormick United Methodist Men's Club, Past Member
of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, Past Member of the Adult Choir, and
currently serves as a Lay Reader and as a member of the Young At Heart Sunday
School Class.
Judge Kidd is married to
Linda Campbell Kidd who is currently serving as Vice Chairman of the Governor's
Commission for Disabilities and Special Needs. They have three daughters,
Alyson Glidewell, Julie Driver, and Jessica Kidd, and one grandson, Ross
Glidewell.
An avid golfer, Judge Kidd
is Club Champion and Senior Club Champion for 2001 at the Tara and Monticello
Golf Courses at Savannah Lakes Village in McCormick.
