Marriage Licenses Both parties must apply in person at the Probate Court for a marriage license. Each party must present their original Social Security Card or Resident Alien ID card and driver's license or SC Highway Dept. issued photo ID card. COPIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Parties under the age of 25 must also present a certified copy of their birth certificate serving as proof of age. Parties under the age of 18 must obtain parental consent to marry. There is a 24 hour waiting period from the time of application until the marriage license can be issued. Therefore, if you apply for your license at 4:30 pm on Friday afternoon, your license will not be issued until 4:30 pm on Monday afternoon. SC LAW PROHIBITS PARTIES UNDER THE AGE OF 15 FROM ENTERING INTO MARRIAGE. SC LAW PROHIBITS PARTIES OF THE SAME SEX FROM ENTERING INTO MARRIAGE. The application fees are a county fee of $12.00, plus a $20.00 state Criminal Domestic Violence Fund fee, for a total of $32.00. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHECKS OR CREDIT CARDS. CASH OR MONEY ORDER ONLY. |
