MEMORANDUM

TO: All Municipal Judges
FROM: George A. Markert, Assistant Director
RE: Reporting of Criminal Cases Sixty (60) Days and Older

It has been brought to my attention that certain municipal judges are not reporting criminal cases (60) days or older on their summary court report forms with attached list of such cases. It appears that these judges believe that it is unnecessary to forward to this office such reports if all parties agree to continuances. They are incorrect in this assumption. All criminal cases sixty (60) days or older must be reported to this office, and failures to so report such cases are violations of the Orders of Chief Justice Lewis dated June 26, 1980. To insure compliance with these Orders, I have instructed field representatives of this office to make "spot checks" of docket books, and to pay particular attention to disposition of cases within the requisite time period.
