Howard James Woods, Jr., appeals his conviction of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, arguing the trial court erred by admitting the victim's testimony about conduct that occurred prior to the time period alleged in the indictment.

Barnes appeals his conviction of murder for which he was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Barnes argues the circuit court erred in refusing to dismiss his indictment because 1) the State violated his state and federal rights to a speedy trial and 2) the State did not comply with the Interstate Agreement on Detainers Act (the "IAD"), S.C. Code Ann. ยงยง 17-11-10 to -80.

Cynthia and Richard Wright appeal the circuit court's grant of summary judgment in favor of the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), Pilot Travel Centers, Speedway, LLC, and Ashley Land Surveying (collectively, Respondents), arguing the circuit court erred in finding (1) Respondents did not owe a duty to the Wrights, (2) Respondents did not breach their duties to the Wrights, (3) no question of fact existed regarding proximate cause, and (4) SCDOT was entitled to summary judgment based on the South Carolina Tort Claims Act.

Nelson asserts the trial court erred in refusing to grant a continuance or a mistrial when his key witness, who was hospitalized at the time of trial, would have given testimony pertinent to Nelson's self-defense claim and his ability to retreat.
