The Supreme Court of South Carolina

O R D E R

I FIND that the allowance of individuals to simultaneously serve as a municipal judge for more than one municipality promotes efficiency and competency in the summary court system, and fulfills a vital need of many municipalities throughout this State. Accordingly, pursuant to Article V, § 4, of the South Carolina Constitution,

IT IS ORDERED that an individual may simultaneously serve as a municipal judge in more than one municipality. This authority extends to those judges presently serving in that capacity and those judges who choose to serve in that capacity after the date of this Order. This authority also extends to magistrates who serve as municipal judges pursuant to individual Orders issued by the Chief Justice, whether now serving in that capacity or choosing to serve in that capacity after the date of this Order.

This Order becomes effective immediately and remains in effect unless amended or revoked by further Order of the Chief Justice.
