Judge Anne Gue Jones

Anne Guè Jones was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina.  Her parents are the late Dr. Bert V. Gue, a local internist, and Jeanne B. Gue, a retired nurse. 

Judge Jones graduated from Furman University in 1987 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History.  While at Furman, she was a member of the Pi Gamma Mu National Honor Society for Social Services, the Collegiate Educational Service Corps and the Delphian Sorority.  She traveled to the communist bloc countries on foreign study in January 1987. 

Judge Jones received her Juris Doctorate from the University Of South Carolina School Of Law in 1990. While in law school, she was a member of the Order of the Wig and Robe, served as an associate editor of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Journal and served as a student legal writing instructor.

After graduation from law school, Judge Jones worked for as a staff attorney for the South Carolina Supreme Court for one year.  Then she returned to Orangeburg to enter private practice with Bryant, Fanning and Shuler, where she practiced law for nine years before being elected as a Family Court Judge in the First Judicial Circuit in February 2001.  Judge Jones has served as President of the South Carolina Conference of Family Court Judges.  She has presided over the Juvenile Drug Court Program in Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties since its inception in 2005.  Judge Jones is currently serving on the Commission on Judicial Conduct. 

Judge Jones has served in the Orangeburg community on the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce, the Drug Free Advisory Committee for Orangeburg School District Five, and as past President of the Junior Service League of Orangeburg.  She is an active member of First Baptist Church of Orangeburg, where she has served as a deacon, including as chairman of the deacons, chairman of the Denominational Affairs Committee,  and been a member of the Chancel Bells and served as a director of children's choirs and as a pianist for various choirs and church services.   Judge Jones is the widow of the late Carl Jones, and she resides in Orangeburg with their three children.
