Anne Gué Jones was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Her parents are Bert V. Gué, a local physician, and Jeanne Bieren Gué, a registered nurse with DHEC.
She graduated from Furman University in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in history. While at Furman, she was a member of the Pi Gamma Mu National Honor Society for Social Services and the Collegiate Educational Service Corps, and she traveled to the communist block countries on foreign study in January 1987.
She attended law school at the University of South Carolina and received her juris doctorate in 1990. While in law school, she was a member of the Order of the Wig and Robe, served as associate editor of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Journal, and served as a student legal writing instructor.
After graduation from law school, Judge Jones worked as a staff attorney for the South Carolina Supreme Court for one year. Then she returned to Orangeburg to enter private practice with Bryant, Fanning & Shuler, where she practiced until her election in February 2001 to the position of Family Court Judge of the First Judicial Circuit. Judge Jones is currently serving on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission as the Family Court representative.
Judge Jones has served on the boards of the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce and the Drug Free Advisory Committee for Orangeburg School District Five, and she served as President of Junior Service League of Orangeburg. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Orangeburg where she has chaired the Denominational Affairs Committee, been a member of the Chancel Bells and served as a director of children's choirs and as a pianist for various choirs and church services. She is married to Carl A. Jones, and they have three children.
