Judge Estridge was born in Richmond County, North Carolina in 1947. She is the daughter of Sarah C. Solomon of Cordova, N. C. and the late Brownie G. Solomon. She graduated from Rockingham High School, Rockingham, N. C. and King’s College, Charlotte, N.C. Upon graduating from college, she worked for Wachovia Bank and Trust in Charlotte, N. C. where she met her husband, Lanny B. Estridge, Sr., a native of Kershaw, S.C. They were married in 1968.
Judge Estridge and her husband are the parents of two children - a son, L. Brian Estridge, Jr., who is Director of Sports Broadcasting for Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas and a daughter, Heather E. Curless, an Architect in Cincinnati, Ohio.
During the early 70’s, Judge Estridge worked for Mr. David G. Traxler, Sr. as his assistant in the S.C. Housing Affairs Section of the Planning and Grants Division of the South Carolina Governor’s Office. After the birth of her second child in Kershaw, S. C., Estridge was a stay-at-home mom until the late 80’s when she was employed by The Honorable M. O. “Reecie” Pate as a Legal Clerk in the Lancaster County Probate Court. She held that position for five years until she was elected as Lancaster County Probate Judge in 1994 after the retirement of Judge Pate.
Prior to her election as Probate Judge, Estridge was a volunteer extraordinaire in Kershaw, S. C. serving as a founder of a Church Kindergarten, Chairman of many charitable, Heart, and Cancer Fund Drives, Charter Member of School Parent/Teacher Organization, Secretary of Chamber of Commerce, President, Vice President, and Chairman of many committees of the King Alfred Garden Club, Chairman of the Kershaw Arts Association, served on the committee of the Lancaster County Artsarepoppin Celebration, and a member of the Lancaster County Arts Association.
Judge Estridge is a member of the S. C. Probate Judges Association, where she is Co-Chair of The Mental Health Committee; a member of the National Association of Probate Judges; a member of the S.C. Department of Archives County Services Committee; and a member of the Substance Abuse/Mentally Ill Workgroup.
Judge Estridge is also a member of First Baptist Church of Lancaster, S. C. where she serves on several committees. She enjoys traveling, reading, watching old movies, cooking, crocheting, and being with family and friends.
