Judge Danny Singleton

Judge Singleton is an Oconee County native. He is the son of Retired Oconee County Sheriff James and Janice Singleton. He is married to his wife Melissa of 28 years and has one adult son, Daniel and daughter in-law, Lauren.

He is a 1987 graduate of Seneca High School and a 1990 Graduate of the SC Criminal Justice Academy. He also holds an AA in Criminal Justice from Tri-County Technical College.

Judge Singleton started his career in law enforcement at the age of 21 with the Westminster Police Department and obtained the rank of Captain. While at Westminster PD, he received 2 officer of the year commendations and a Life Saving Award from the SC Police Chief’s Assoc. and the Woodsman of the World Society. He also worked with the Seneca Police Department as a supervisor, investigator including narcotics. Judge Singleton also served as an investigator for the 10th Circuit Solicitor’s Office under Retired Solicitor George Duckworth.

At the age of 28, Judge Singleton was appointed as the Seneca Municipal Judge on November 28, 1998 and remained there for 24 years. He also served as the part-time Judge for the Cities of Westminster and Walhalla at various times. Judge Singleton is a Past-President of the Tri-County Judicial Association. He also served many years in an officer role with the SC Summary Court Judges’ Association and most recently finished 2- 2 years’ terms as its President. Judge Singleton was awarded a Lifetime Membership from the SCSCJA.

Judge Singleton was elected to the Office of Probate Judge of Oconee County on November 8, 2022 and was sworn-in and took office on January 3, 2023.

Judge Singleton enjoys spending time with his family at home, camping and out on the lakes of Oconee.
