Ernest A. Finney, Jr., civil rights giant and beloved family man, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2017.  Retired Chief Justice Finney served the people of his adopted state of South Carolina for more than sixty years as a teacher, a lawyer, a legislator, and a judge.  In every aspect of his life, retired Chief Justice Finney led by example, doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with his God.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the James & Dorothy Z.
