On Thursday, August 23, 2007, Chief Justice Jean Hoefer Toal addressed the members of South Carolina's Judiciary at the 2007 Annual Judicial Conference. Justice Toal's comments included the recognition of retiring judges and a special welcome to new judges. She provided updates on state court funding and an overview of caseload statistics for South Carolina's trial courts. Her remarks also included information about the Criminal Justice Task Force recommendations and indigent defense reform. She also shared a progress report on technology initiatives, an update on the public-privacy project, and a new business court pilot program. |
