The Supreme Court of South Carolina

In Re:  South Carolina Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission –
Request for Approval of Self-Represented Litigant Simple Divorce Packet

ORDER

The South Carolina Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission, along with South Carolina Legal Services, the South Carolina Bar and South Carolina Court Administration, developed instructions and forms which have been compiled in a Self-Represented Litigant Simple Divorce Packet for plaintiffs and defendants.  The purpose of these documents is to provide instructions and forms for people who cannot afford an attorney but would like to file a divorce based on one year continuous separation.  The documents will be available at courthouses and on the South Carolina Judicial Department website.  The Access to Justice Commission will also encourage South Carolina Legal Services to use the documents in their pro se clinics.

These documents have been approved by the Family Court Judges’ Advisory Committee and have now been submitted to this Court by the Access to Justice Commission for approval.  We hereby approve the documents submitted by the Commission.

IT IS SO ORDERED.
