RE: Designation of Interim Chief Magistrate


ORDER


The judges of the summary courts of South Carolina being a part of the uniform statewide judicial system and pursuant to the provisions of Section 4, Article V, South Carolina Constitution,

IT IS ORDERED that due to health reasons Judge Helen Clawson has requested to be relieved of her appointment as Chief Magistrate of Charleston County. Therefore, I appoint Judge Jack I. Guedalia as Chief Magistrate of Charleston County for the remainder of the period of Judge Clawson's term as Chief Magistrate which commenced January 1, 2004 and ends June 30, 2004, at which time Judge Guedalia is required by state law to retire. Judge Henry Guerard will continue to serve as Associate Chief Judge of Charleston County through June 30, 2004. Effective July 1, 2004, Judge Henry Guerard is hereby appointed Chief Magistrate of Charleston County and James B. Gosnell, Jr. is hereby appointed as Associate Chief Judge of Charleston County.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED THAT no order issued by the Chief Judge under the authority of this Order shall be effective unless the order is filed with the Office of South Carolina Court Administration and approved for consistency with statewide administrative policies.

The authority conferred on the Chief Judge for Administrative Purposes of the Summary Courts for Charleston County by this Order shall become effective immediately and shall continue through June 30, 2004, unless changed or revoked by Order of the Chief Justice.
