Supreme Court Recognizes Mr. Ben Franklin McCall

On February 3, the Supreme Court recognized Mr. Ben Franklin McCall for many years of service as a volunteer bailiff.  Mr. McCall has been very faithful in attending the sessions of the Supreme Court.  He has served under twelve Chief Justices and four Clerks of Court. 

Mr. McCall, age 84, was born October 1, 1919, in the Minturn community in Dillon county. He is married to Recia Tillman, of Kershaw county.

 

 After completing his military service, Mr. McCall began attending sessions of Judge Legare Bates' court, a Richland County Court Judge, in 1945. Later he began attending sessions of the legislature and the South Carolina Supreme Court, which was located in the State House until 1971.

Mr. McCall was presented with a special plaque by Chief Justice Jean H. Toal for his dedicated service to the South Carolina Judicial Department and the Supreme Court.
