RE: |
Day of Mourning
for President Reagan, Friday, June 11, 2004 |
DATE: |
June 9, 2004 |
The entire nation is saddened by the passing of former President Ronald Wilson Reagan. As the fortieth President of the United States, he presided over this country during a time of great change in world politics and is widely credited as a major figure in the successful conclusion of the Cold War.
As a mark of respect for President Reagan, President Bush has directed the closure of Federal Offices on June 11, 2004. The Governor has not directed any closure of State Government Offices, therefore the South Carolina Judicial Department will be open on Friday.
However, out of respect for President Reagan, I encourage supervisors to honor requests by Judicial Department employees to attend memorial or other commemorative events.
