By order dated June 20, 2005, the Court substantially amended the Rules of Professional Conduct, Rule 407, SCACR, to incorporate many of the changes made by the ABA to the Model Rules of Professional Conduct as part of its Ethics 2000 initiative, as well as other changes. These rules can be accessed by clicking on Court Rules/Rules Effective 10-1-2005. The Court also amended Rule 404, SCACR, to increase the fee for admission pro hac vice to $250 and to require payment of a fee and the filing of a verified statement by attorneys who are not licensed to practice law in South Carolina who provide legal services pursuant to newly amended Rule 5.5(c)(3) of the Rules of Professional Conduct, Rule 407, SCACR. The amended rules will become effective October 1, 2005.
