The Supreme Court has issued an order dealing with the filing of applications to take the July 2007 Bar Examination if the Charleston School of Law obtains provisional approval from the Council of Legal Education of the American Bar Association.

ORDER

The Charleston School of Law (School) is not currently approved by the Council of Legal Education of the American Bar Association (Council). Therefore, graduates of the School are not currently eligible to apply for admission to practice law in South Carolina. Rule 402(c)(3), SCACR.

We are aware that the Council will consider granting provisional approval to the School in December 2006. If provisional approval is granted, this Court will accept applications for the July 2007 Bar Examination from students who will graduate from the School before the July Bar Examination is given. Under the circumstances, applications will be accepted from these students with a $400 filing fee until the filing period ends on January 31, 2007. No applications from these students will be accepted until after the Council has granted provisional approval to the School.
