RE: GREENVILLE COUNTY MENTAL HEALTH COURT


ADMINISTRATIVE ORDER


Pursuant to Article V, Section 4 of the South Carolina Constitution,

IT IS ORDERED that the Honorable Debora A. Faulkner, Judge of Probate for Greenville County, is hereby assigned to preside over the Greenville County Mental Health Court. 

Pursuant to this assignment, Judge Faulkner will be responsible for administering the program and coordinating the role of the judiciary with the functions of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, Greenville County Magistrate Courts, City Municipal Courts located in Greenville County, Greenville County General Sessions Court, Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, City of Greenville Police Department, private mental health care providers, and any other agencies involved in providing services to the population of persons who will be served by the Greenville County Mental Health Court. Further, Judge Faulkner will be responsible for presiding over the courtroom proceedings involving the program, the imposition of sanctions on participants as deemed appropriate, and the modification of bond orders.  Additionally, Judge Faulkner will be responsible for the judicial supervision of all defendants participating in the Greenville County Mental Health Court.   

IT IS ORDERED that in the absence of the Honorable Debora A. Faulkner, Judge of Probate for Greenville County, the Honorable Caroline M. Horlbeck, the duly appointed Associate Probate Judge for Greenville County, or any Associate Probate Judge for Greenville County duly appointed by Judge Faulkner, may preside over the Greenville County Mental Health Court.

IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the provisions of the order dated February 5, 2006, that established a mental health court program within Greenville County shall remain unchanged unless amended or revoked by the Chief Justice.

This order takes effect immediately and remains in effect unless amended or rescinded by the Chief Justice.
